Art Journal: Fashion Fades

This is now my favourite page so far!  I used papers from the Correspondence papers by Craftwork Cards with has a vintage Paris theme.  I searched online for vintage portrait pictures and remembered a movie I watched of Coco Chanel’s life and how inspiring she was.  So voila! Printed off her photo and a random Eiffel Tower one and took to distress!

I had also just picked up a stamp shape punch from Hobbycraft which also embosses so now I can make my own stamps!  Chuck in a couple of doillies and a die cut flower from the same paper set embellished with Liquid Pearls and a mini bottle top.

The finer details: the bottle top was antiqued a bit with a brown Spectrum Noir alcohol pen, the map page was distressed using Tim Holtz wrinkle distress technique and the shadowing around the main parts of the page was done with a Faber Castell Pitt Brush pen to give great depth.

Altered Art Binoculars Case

People often call me odd so when I saw this binoculars case I had to take it home and stamp it up!  I’ve used Sheena Douglas’s Laguna stamps, embossed in black and painted with Pebeo Dyna paints.  The tiger and jungle leaves are Sheena Douglas’s Taste of India range.  My mum thinks it would make an unusual handbag… I think it makes another cute storage solution for my living room!

Altered Art Ballet Pointe Shoes

My favouritest thing so far!  I’m currently practising for a ballet exam (even though I am no spring chick!) and as a result I am getting through a few pairs of pointe shoes here and there so voila!  Not content with chucking them in the bin when they are no longer fit for dance, I’ve decorated them with the beautiful Hidden Fairies stamps by the uber talented Sheena Douglas.  The only finishing touch is some liquid pearls (Ballerina) and stickles glitter (diamond).  They are now my good luck mascot hanging by the front door x

Craftwork Cards: Time for Tea

I’ve not done much cardmaking lately (mostly because I have sooooo many cards made up now!). However I have started doing 6 card sets in a box!  Here’s one that I put together quick and easy and used the Ultimate Pro Boxer board to make the box.

 

Art Journal: Makes You Pirate

I recently bought my first digital stamp – hurrah yay me!  I saw this pirate lady from The East Wind and just had to have it!  I coloured her in my Spectrum Noir Pencils.  The rest of the layout is a book page and distress ink sea and a homemade sand texture paint… don’t spend lots of artist sand texture gels, etc, if you have a child that you can get some play sand take a pot full and mix some with texture paste.  I also mixed sand with some magnolia paint to decorate the outside of my dolls’ house many years ago so it’s always handy to have for lots of textures.  The method on this spread also kept the natural sand colours.  Additional stamps were from Sheena Douglass (bottle and tree stamped onto acetate) but I think The Sea is Calling Me is Hampton Art’s.  Oh and before I forget, I applied clear gesso onto my pirate so that I could add distress inks.
