Art Journal: The Dawn Will Break

For this page I’ve gone all Sheena Douglass with her range of stamps and her techniques with aquatints.  It seems to be getting colder lately so I thought this lovely quote would cheer me up.  The northern lights effect is very vibrant in real life and the dots of stickles make the sky look like it’s twinkling with stars.

Art Journal: Create a Positive Reality

As previewed in my previous post, this year I am planning to turn the Tim Holtz Tags 2016 into art journal pages.  This month Tim has amalgamated his previously demonstrated “Chalkboard” technique and his “industrious metal” technique from previous years.  Although the instructions show him creating a tag, my choice of fruit is the art journal.  The challenges I will have is scaling up the ideas and filling the blanks as the journal is some 3 or 4 times larger to work with.

I’ve been meaning to try putting the edges of my journal through my Grand Caliber machine and I have to say that it was easy and it worked!  I’ve listed my ingredients below…

Ingredients

• Alluminium foil tape
• Black acrylic paint
• Embossing folder (Tim Holtz / Sizzix)
• Black card
• Perfect medium ink pad and pen
• Frosted embossing powder by Ranger
• White chalk
• Stamp by Stampers Anonymous
• Idea-ology: gears, sprockets, spinner, screw mini brads, tissue tape, big chat word stickers
• Foam tape

Tim Holtz Tag 2016–January–Art Journal Style!

This year I plan to follow along with Tim Holtz Tags 2016!  As with my other art journal pages I will turn them into YouTube videos too but for now (so that I don’t miss the deadline to post!) here’s what I have made…

Art Journal: From a Tiny Nut

Today's art journal has been created using distress inks in reds and browns and then creating a textured clear resist using one of Sheena Douglass's stencils.  Extras include Tim Holtz rub ons and gilding flakes.

• Distress inks: Aged mahogany, candied apple, barn door, fired brick, squeezed lemonade, vintage photo, black soot
