About Me

I am a mummy with creativity in my blood.  Daughter to a boat builder and an event planner, grand daughter to a once famous Opera singer and niece to a dog-sledding champion/artist!  My "day-job" is running and teaching my own dance and performing arts school and any other free time is spent crafting or getting arty.  Between choreographing or writing plays I can be found getting up to all sorts from card making and colouring to dolls house building and altering.

Like all crafters I like to squirrel things away for future makes and avoid housework at all costs!  My favourite brands are Tim Holtz, Pebeo, Sheena Douglass, Craftwork Cards, Spectrum Noir and Faber-Castell.  My regular craft hobby is maintaining an Art Journal which allows me to work on a bigger project and try out lots of cool things.

I get my inspiration from YouTube, Blogs and watch my favourite crafters on Create and Craft.  I do the online Tim Holtz Tag tutorials and have just finished his Creative Chemistry courses.  As I did very little art at school I've had to work it out myself but heartfelt thanks to all those who share their tips and lessons online!

I live at home with my two children and four cats: Cairo del Sol, Queen Lana del Luna, Buffalo Blind-eye-Bill and Lily-Petal.
*** UPDATE: we now have a beautiful tabby kitten named The Future Queen Nefertiti ***

    1. Thank you so much you are so kind! I'm impressed you love my cats' names although I don't think the receptionist at the vets surgery agrees lol!

  2. I discovered your work since a few weeks and I love it. I myself like to think of myself as a crafty person too, love making cards and started about a year ago working on art journal pages. My question for you, as you like almost the same stuff as I do (tim holtz, inking, stamping), which journal do you use? Up to now I have been using seperate pages to try out before I mess up a book but I feel I am ready to buy a book to work in now. Can you give me some adVise?

    1. Hi Linda welcome to my blog it's lovely to hear from a like minded crafter :) The exact one I'm using is "Moleskin Soft Large Plain Notebook". I stick about three pages together to thicken them up using either gel medium or bindex medium (depending on whatever is closest to hand and they will both stick well). If I'm using distress inks or aquatints I will go straight onto the page without any further prep but if I'm using something like distress crayons or gelatos I will go over with some white gesso. Also, when my book starts to get too bulky I slice down the outside cover just on the spine to let it expand. I have a couple of finished books now and I will get round to decorating the covers and giving them a new proper spine eventually - but in the meantime they are safe and sound :) Let me know how you get on and ask your questions any time x
