Crafter’s Companion Subscription Box July 2018

Have you seen the new Crafter’s Companion Subscription boxes yet?  Each month they are packed with lots of products to get you started making projects straight from the box.  I was lucky enough to be asked to make some samples using the July 2018 box which happens to be based on the Sparkle pens!  You get over 130 elements which includes 3 sparkle pens (a yellow, a blue and a pink/red) which are all the colours you need to get started with sparkle pens, cute 4” card blanks and envelopes, clear stamp sheet, plain watercolour card, watercolour card with white embossed images, watercolour card with printed images ready to colour and coloured paper for matting and layering.  I wish we had sparkle vision as it never shows in photos – but basically imagine that everywhere these pens have touched is sparkling with microfine glitter.

Apart from glue and foam pads, I’ll mention on each sample if I’ve used anything else in addition to the box…

This was created using 2 of the card blanks with a bit of nifty scoring.  Notice how you can get pastel colours from the pens if you wanted to.

Again, only the 3 colours with a bit of palette blending to create custom colours.

This was created using a few of the card blanks, a supporting card to join them and some easy water colour techniques.  These are some of the image resist pictures.

I’ve chucked a tag shaped die for the sentiment and some googly eyes for the sun flower Smile

Incidentally the ribbon was white but I stained it with the yellow pen.

Another easel card created with two of the card blanks, plus some white embossing powder for the sentiment and the stopper.

The border was created using the pens neat, so if you compare the depth of this pigment to the pastel card at the top – exactly the same pens, completely different looks.

I washed over the entire resist image with the blue pen and then went in with more colour for each of the butterflies.  Again, you’d be forgiven for thinking that I had more than three pens.

I hope you enjoy your subscription boxes.  Don’t forget that each month you’ll get a completely different themed boxed – this month was sparkle pens, last month was edgibles dies.

  1. Thank you for the many and varied samples. Sometimes it’s hard to think out of the box when we don’t know where to begin, and your samples help a lot.
